Hey all,
Thought I’d try my hand at blogging over here for once.
I appreciate Jim giving me the opportunity to do so.
Years ago I was asked by a young preteen boy from town if we were still churching over at our church. I am grateful that his question still hangs in the back of my mind. It helps stimulate me to be churching in a Biblical manner. Some books on doing church that I have found helpful over the years include the following (in no particular order):
- Handbook of Church Discipline by Jay E. Adams
- A Biblical Theology of the Church edited by Mal Couch
- Nine Marks of a Healthy Church by Mark Dever
- The Deliberate Church by Mark Dever & Paul Alexander
- Sharpening the Focus of the Church by Gene A. Getz
- The Master’s Plan for the Church by John F. MacArthur
- Life in the Father’s House by Wayne Mack & David Swavely
- A Theology of Church Growth by George W. Peters
- Biblical Eldership by Alexander Strauch
These books are quite readable by both elders and the average church member. No doubt some of these have been revised since my purchase of them. Some are possibly out of print. But they are all worth the effort in reading through them.

It’s about time
If you’re open to a 10th, I’ve appreciated Reforming Pastoral Ministry, John Armstrong, ed.
If you like those above, this one might jazz you as well.
Keep on churchin’
