In this day and age when there seems to be a lot of confusions as to what a pastor is, biblically, a pastor is an/a:
- Exegete and expositor of God’s truth (Scripture);
- Preacher (a passionate proclaimer of God’s propositional truths);
- Theologian (a student and teacher of historic Christian faith and contemporary theological issues);
- Apologist (a defender of faith);
- Counselor (biblical/nouthetic counseling, rather than psychological);
- Equipper (equipping the saints for the work of the ministry – raising and training future leaders);
- Leader;
- Shepherd; and
- Mission-minded and passionately purposeful supporter of church planting.
