One of the concerns I have when I approach the Lord’s Table is to minimize its significance, perhaps, due to frequent repetitions. Even for a church like us that partake the communion once a month, I am fully aware of such concern. Hence, if not careful, it can merely become a religious ritual without a sense of profound meaning, life and power. For that reason I have chosen 1 Corinthians 10:1-22 as my sermon text for our Communion Sunday last night.
I feel that the need to understand the meaning of the Lord’s Table is great, if not, be reminded regularly as a minister of the gospel. For me, I need to study the gospel, hear the gospel, and preach the gospel often to myself first and foremost. If not, I’ll loose the sight of who Jesus is and who I am.
